Lattie Coor School has a rich history rooted in the heart of Avondale. First opened in 1957 as Avondale Junior High, the school evolved over the decades—becoming Lattie Coor East and West in 2005, and ultimately transforming into Lattie Coor Early Childhood Academy in 2016. Our school proudly bears the name of Dr. Lattie Coor, former Arizona State University President and son of a former principal in the Avondale Elementary School District.
Today, Lattie Coor serves our youngest scholars—from preschool through first grade—as part of the Avondale Elementary School District. Located near the heart of historic Old Town Avondale, our campus is a vibrant learning community where early learning, exploration, and belonging thrive.
At Lattie Coor, our roots are deep. While we serve our earliest learners, our vision reaches far beyond. We aim to develop children who are rich in kindness, literate and logical thinkers, and equipped with the skills needed to navigate an ever-changing world.
We are honored to support the foundational years of our students’ education and are excited to partner with families as we nurture each child's curiosity, confidence, and growth. We can't wait to build strong relationships to best support our growing family of Lattie Coor learners!
Mission Statement
Lattie Coor's mission is to empower students to become independent learners that will achieve a future without limits. Our vision is to build a foundation for ALL to grow, collaborate and invest in our children and community.
